Amendment

I'd like to change the proper office rule from 'we "do" lunch' to 'we "grab" lunch.' I think this is as popular as it is because it makes you sound more busy, and thus (I guess) more important. I can't possibly finish all this paperwork and call these people back and go to this meeting on time on top of "having" lunch -- guess I'll have to grab lunch.

You ever notice how it's like a competition around this country: who's busiest? Me, no me, no no me! I've noticed the folks that are the fiercest competitors -- the Busiest people -- are usually the ones who aren't busy at all.

I guess they have to waste time somehow.

I guess if they slow down they may be forced to reflect on the relative emptiness of their lives?

I'm all for slowing down...

I think most people are over-booked. I've got one of those bosses that's in the office at least ten hours a day and never takes lunch. It's daunting.

I whole-heartedly agree with you both.

Try pretending to be busy when you have to record all your time in 6 minute segments. That's a daunting task.

I am salaried so don't get paid extra for working more. I went in at 9:30 this morning because I felt like I had too many hours in this week what with all the traveling. I don't want to donate too much time, after all. I am definitely not into the whole competition thing.
