Beautiful blog: I love your references to motherhood, womanhood, partnership, and enjoying an evening without the immersion, of a significant other, in homework.
(In one of your earlier posts, you mentioned not having been to California and I've never been to Boston.)
Also, I enjoyed your list of argument for an urban home base that is close to nature (sans suburbs) and linked to culture: both vital and necessary influences.

Oh, sweet nelly, this is so cute.
I remember when my sister was this age and the Buddha jokes flew around our house. Toddlerhood is such a delightful stage.
Don't listen to anyone who tells you to watch out for the Terrible Twos; my experience has been that children are easy to deal with then. It's when they hit around four or five that they really start grasping the concept of defiance and the whining sets in.
Pie, nearly six, is going through this now. You just have to be firm when they get to that point.
